ABOUT ME

Ivana Panizzi was born in Poços de Caldas Minas Gerais State, Brazil.

She graduated on Fine Arts at the "Instituto Superior de Arte" in Havana Cuba where she also studied Cinema and Television. She participated in the "New York Project 1995", organized by the Parque Lage Foundation (Rio de Janeiro).

In 1996 Ivana was selected as one of the new Brazilian artists to watch by the National Foundation for the Arts - FUNARTE.

Her artworks can be found in private galleries and museums in Brazil and in museums in the USA (Wichita Falls, Texas and at the Latin American Collection of the World Bank in Washington, DC) as well as in private collections in many countries like Belgium, Bolivia, Cuba, Egypt, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mozambique, South Africa and Tanzania.

Her work is characterized by researching and recycling of non-conventional materials, either on her paintings or on her objects and installations.

She taught "3-D Design" at the Maryland College of Art and Design in 2000/2001. The artist is residing temporarily in Nigeria. She organized recycling projects in public schools and in disadvantaged communities in South Africa (2001-2004), Mozambique (2005 - 2009) and Tanzania (2010-2015). She is one of the founding members of "Take me to the River", a not-for-profit art organization based in Washington, DC, USA.
